Bio

Motenko enters his fifth season at Allan Hancock College.  He is Head Coach Tyson Aye’s lead assistant coach. In addition to his basketball duties, he also implements the team's injury prevention and flexibility program.

He wears many different hats on campus, helping with community outreach, student services, and student engagement. He also teaches classes in the kinesiology, recreation, and athletics department. 

Prior to AHC, Motenko spent two years as the graduate assistant coach at Fresno State while the Bulldogs transitioned into the Mountain West Conference. He assisted Fresno State’s head coach Rodney Terry's staff with opponent scouting, video edits, academics, and youth camps.

Prior to his time in Fresno, Motenko was an assistant coach for one year at NJCAA Division I-level Lamar Community College, where he was responsible for all player development, recruiting, scouting, and was head coach of Lamar's JV program in its inaugural season.  He started his collegiate coaching career in 2010 as an assistant coach at Chabot College where he worked under Tyson Aye's father, Denny Aye, and with Tyson's youngest brother, Devin Aye.

Motenko also directed year-round skill development training in the Bay Area with Triple Threat Academy from 2007-2011.  Before that, he gained extensive international basketball experience, directing programs overseas for Peace Players International, and working as a scout for NBADraft.net. 

A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Motenko earned a master’s degree in kinesiology: sport psychology from Fresno State, and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Wheaton College.
