JOB OPENING: Athletic Trainer

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College Department of Athletics has announced a job opening for an Athletic Trainer.

Under the supervision of the Associate Dean/Athletic Director, this position will evaluate, treat, and administer first aid and preventive and rehabilitative treatment for acute and chronic medical conditions for physical education students and student-athletes involved in various inter-collegiate sports. The Athletic Trainer will also be expected to provide training to students seeking careers in sports medicine and related health care programs; maintain and operate the campus training room facility, administer an appropriate injury records system as required by laws; provide nutrition and health advice and counseling to athletes, coaches, and physical education faculty; and value and promote the mission and vision of the college.

Minimum qualifications for the job include a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, athletic training, sports medicine, or a related field; five years of experience in athletic training. A graduate degree in a relevant field may substitute for two years of the required experience or any combination equivalent to. Interested candidates must also hold a valid California driver's license, possess a valid CPR certificate issued by a nationally recognized sanctioning organization, possess a valid First Aid certificate issued by a nationally recognized sanctioning organization, and must hold a current Athletic Trainer Certificate (ATC) the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
