Bats Erupt for 17 Hits; Come Up Just Short Against Bulldogs

The Falcon's offense really came to play in what turned out to be a back and forth slugfest on Friday, as West Hills College hosted Allan Hancock College. The Falcons turned to freshman Brandon Barker to start on the mound, and Barker had trouble all day with the Bulldog lineup, as he lasted just 3 innings and gave up 9 hits and 7 earned runs. With their backs against the wall, the Falcon's offense responded down 5-0 in the 2nd. The Falcons hit three consectutive doubles in the 2nd, as Alante Uribe, Mckay Glines, and Jake Lorenzini all hit doubles to left. After Lorenzini advance to third on a wild pitch, he was plated on a sacrifice fly to right by freshman Jacob Evangelo. After falling down 7-3 after 3 innings, newcomer Darius Dukes pitched a scoreless inning of relief and allowed the offense to get back in the game. In the 4th, Jake Lorenzini reached on an error by the third baseman and advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch. Sophomore Juan Garcia then hit a RBI single to right bringing home Lorenzini. Back to back singles by Scotty Ingle and Adrian Flores made the score 7-5. After walking the first two hitters in the 5th, Dukes was replaced by freshman Brandon Hutt who quickly got two outs, but gave up a 2 RBI doulbe to Colton Studebaker, pushing the score to 9-5. The Falcons threatened again in the 6th as Ingle reached on a single to right. After Flores reached on an error by the Bulldog third baseman, Evan Walter hit a RBI single to center which brought home Ingle. Just when things were looking good for the Falcons to have a big inning, Flores was caught trying to advance to 3rd base by CF Colton Studebaker, which ended the inning. Mack Morford came in relief in the 7th inning and threw two innings of scoreless baseball. The Falcons were unable to put anything together offensively after the 6th inning, and fell to the Bulldogs 10-6.

The loss drops West Hills' record to 0-6, while the Bulldogs improved to 3-0. Seven Falcon hitters had multiple hit games, as Scotty Ingle went 3 for 3 with a run scored, and Mckay Glines went 3 for 5 with a run and RBI.
