Aguilar Delivers Walk-Off 2-1 Win over East LA to Open Spring Classic

Evan Aguilar hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Roger Guillen and deliver a 2-1 walk-off win for the Allan Hancock College baseball team over East Los Angeles to open the annual AHC Spring Classic on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs, who are ranked 13th in the Southern California Region, improved to 21-11-1 overall. East LA, which was ranked fourth, dropped to 20-12.

Hancock outhit East LA eight to six with two hits apiece from Felipe Gonzalez and Angel Guillen.
The Bulldogs scored the first run of the game in the fifth inning when Jacob Witkowski doubled to left to drive in Angel Guillen. Hancock starter Nathan Thompson was cruising through seven innings, but East LA tied it with an unearned run in the eighth fueled by a two-base error from Aguilar in center field. The Lompoc High School graduate made up for it in dramatic fashion one inning later.

Thompson threw eight innings and struck out eight. The sophomore left-hander scattered five hits and walked only one. He allowed one unearned run. Cody Thompson picked up his first win of the season by throwing a scoreless ninth inning.
