Bulldogs Drop Season Finale 3-1 to SBCC

Despite a solid six-inning start from sophomore John Thomas, the Allan Hancock College baseball team dropped its season finale 3-2 at home to Santa Barbara City College on Friday. The Bulldogs finished the season 8-16 in conference and 13-23 overall. 

The fourth ranked Vaqueros earned a share of the Western State Conference North title with third ranked Oxnard. Both teams finished 17-7 in conference. Cuesta finished third at 15-9.

Hancock outhit SBCC seven to six. Seven Bulldogs had one hit apiece.

Ellis Gerussi-Turner and Tim Mahoney each had one double for the Bulldogs, and Riley Joyce stole two bases. 

SBCC scored once in the first and added two more in the top of the fourth. The Bulldogs scored their run in the home half of the fourth when Mahoney doubled in Joyce, who was hit by a pitch and stole second base.

Thomas scattered six hits over six innings. He walked one and struck out five. Thomas allowed three runs, only two of which were earned. Sophomore left-hander Henry Fienga threw three shutout innings. The Cabrillo High School graduate walked two and struck out three. 

Sean Berry earned the win for SBCC with seven innings of work. He struck out eight, allowed five hits and allowed one run.
