Dodgers and 49ers Tickets, Sports Memorabilia, Chance to Be a First Responder, Elaborate Vacations and Gourmet Meals Among Auction Items for Annual Joe White Memorial Dinner and Auction

From weekend getaways to a chance to experience life as a first responder to a basketball autographed by NBA Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry to a filet mignon and lobster dinner for 20, there will be something for everyone to bid on during the 14th annual Joe White Memorial Dinner and Auction on Saturday, August 15, 2015.

The event, which is the largest and most important fundraiser of the year for the Allan Hancock College athletic department, will take place at a new location this year, the Santa Maria Elks Lodge #1538. Organized by Hancock College Boosters, Inc., the dinner and auction event has raised more than $650,000 for Bulldogs athletics.

One lucky winner and seven friends will be able to experience a day in the life of a first responder at Hancock's state-of-the-art Public Safety Training Complex. They will wear fire gear and participate in a live fire demonstration inside the college's six-story burn tower, complete the Force Options Simulator, the driving simulator and emergency vehicle operations track.

A six-night getaway to a luxury Montana home, a stay at the Bay Shores Peninsula in Newport Beach, and one week at a three-bedroom home just steps from the sand at the Oceano Dunes are among the vacation options.

Sports fans will have plenty of items to consider. Basketballs autographed by Curry and the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as private Stadium Club seats to catch the Los Angeles Dodgers play the San Francisco Giants and tickets to watch the San Francisco 49ers battle the Atlanta Falcons will go to the highest bidders.

Mouth-watering and gourmet meals that range from a barbeque 30, a New York strip steak dinner for 50, a filet mignon and lobster tail dinner for 20, and a Cajun meal for 10 will also be on the auction block. A dessert auction will start off the live auction.

The price of admission to the fundraiser is $60 per person. Sponsorship opportunities range from $500 to $5,000. The silent auction begins when the doors open at 5 p.m. Dinner prepared by Cowboy Flavor will be served at 7:07 p.m. with the live auction to follow. The Santa Maria Elks Lodge is located at 1309 North Bradley Road in Santa Maria.

The Boosters group has agreed to fundraise for a video scoreboard for the college's new on-campus football stadium. This fall, the Bulldogs will play the first on-campus football games since the current Santa Maria campus opened nearly 60 years ago.
