Hancock Infielder Zach Lampreia Signs with Campbellsville University

Allan Hancock College infielder Zach Lampreia has signed a letter of intent to play baseball next season for Campbellsville University. The Toronto native became the eighth Hancock baseball player to sign with a four-year institution this year.

Lampreia received All-Conference Honorable Mention in 2016 after he finished fifth on the Bulldogs with 18 RBI and seventh with 26 hits. Over two seasons, the Toronto native posted a career .263 batting average at Hancock with 67 hits and 37 RBI. He hit .320 his freshman season with the Bulldogs to earn All-Conference Second Team recognition.

With an enrollment of about 3,600 students, Campbellsville University is located 30 miles from Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky. The Campbellsville Tigers won the 2016 Mid-South Conference Tournament to earn an automatic bid to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Tournament.  On top of the NAIA playoffs, the Tigers also competed in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) playoffs. They lost in the NCCAA semifinals 12-5 to eventual champion Oklahoma Baptist. Former Bulldogs Nathan Thompson and Felipe Gonzalez, both Santa Ynez High School graduates, played for OBU.

The Tigers finished the season ranked No. 17 in the nation with an overall record of 42-19.

Former Hancock players Cameron Ketchen and Riley Joyce completed their junior seasons with Campbellsville in 2016. Ketchen, an outfielder, hit .360 with five home runs and 42 RBI for the Tigers, while Joyce, a catcher, finished with a .294 batting average, two home runs and 30 RBI.

Hancock outfielder Hunter Christensen also committed to Campbellsville last month.
