Next Level: Gavin Long Commits to Utah Tech
GEORGE, Utah - Allan Hancock College centerfield standout, Gavin Long, has committed to continue his academic and athletic career at Utah Tech University next season.
"I chose Utah Tech because I felt like it was the right fit for me to continue my baseball career while furthering my education," Long shared. "The atmosphere of the program seemed like somewhere that I could see myself enjoying being apart of each and every day."
Long spent two seasons in the grass for the Bulldogs while etching his name into the record book for several categories. He was tops for the team this spring with a .349 batting average after going 60-for-172 at the plate. He notched 16 doubles, two triples, and one homer while tallying 23 RBIs and stealing a team-high of 11 bases this season. The Santa Maria native was selected as a First Team All-Conference, Second Team ABCA/Rawling All-Region, and a CSC Academic All-District honoree for his work on the field at the conclusion of his sophomore campaign.
"My time at AHC helped develop my maturity on the field and in the classroom," Long added. "I faced many challenges and was able to overcome them through my faith as well as with the support of my family members, teammates, and coaches."
The Trailblazers are a Division I member of the NCAA and compete in the Western Athletic Conference.
Blessed to announce my commitment to Utah Tech University to continue my academic and athletic career! Thank you to all who have helped me along the way, I couldn't have done it without the right people in my circle! #AGTG @AHC_Baseball @UtahTech_BASE @b_rinard pic.twitter.com/3iuHapZADV
