Bio

The 2017 season will be Griego's ninth as the Allan Hancock College pitching coach under head coach Chris Stevens. In addition to his pitching coach duties, Griego is responsible for recruiting and coordinating camps. Griego is a part-time instructor in the kinesiology, recreation and athletics department. He is also in charge of alumni relations for the athletics department.

Griego’s coaching experience began while serving as a pitching coach at Jesuit High School in Sacramento from 1998-2000. Clarence then left Jesuit to pursue his teaching career at Bonita Vista High School in Chula Vista, where he was the co-head coach from 2000-2003. Clarence went on to become an assistant coach at Sierra College, under Rob Willson, for the 2004 season. That year, the Wolverines advanced to the Elite 8 of the playoffs. 

Griego also spends time coaching for collegiate summer baseball teams. In the summer of 2007 he was the pitching coach for the Fairbanks Goldpanners in the prestigious Alaskan Baseball League.

Griego earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Cal State University of Sacramento in 1999 and his master’s of sports science from the United States Sports Academy in 2005. Griego and his wife, Leslie, reside in Santa Maria with their two children.
