Bio

Scott Nickason, who enters his seventh season with the Bulldogs in 2024, has been a fixture in the Santa Maria Valley baseball community for years.

After playing at Santa Maria High from 1987 to 1990, Nickason played at Allan Hancock then moved on to play at the University of Wyoming. It was in Wyoming that he began to coach, leading the semi-pro Sweetwater County Miners to a championship. He returned to his hometown after Wyoming dismantled the baseball program and immediately started coaching.

The founder of the Premier Baseball School made pitstops as the varsity baseball head coach at both Ernest Righetti High School and Santa Maria High School. Nickason also led the Righetti High School softball team to a CIF title in 2013. He has also spent more than a decade coaching summer collegiate league baseball teams, first as the head coach of the Santa Maria Indians then as the co-founder/general manager of the Santa Maria Valley Packers.
