Former Hancock Tight End Playing for NCAA Division II National Championship Saturday

Former Allan Hancock College star Ryan Mediano, now a senior tight end at University of North Alabama, will play for a NCAA Division II National Championship on Saturday. The Lions, who are 11-1 overall and ranked No. 7 in the nation, will face No. 1 Northwest Missouri State on Saturday, December 17 in Kansas City. The game will kickoff at 1 p.m. on ESPN 2.

The six-foot-three Mediano has played in all 12 games this season for the Lions. He has seven catches for 120 yards. He caught a 29-yard touchdown against West Florida. Mediano was an All-Conference selection his sophomore season at Hancock. In two seasons with the Bulldogs, Mediano caught 26 passes and scored two touchdowns combined.

UNA enters the game on an 11-game winning streak, while NWMS will look for its 30th straight win. North Alabama is making its fifth appearance in the NCAA Division II National Championships, but its first in 21 years. The Lions won national titles from 1993-1995.
