Hancock's Omokaro Named to All-California Team

Allan Hancock College defensive lineman Osa Omokaro has received All-State recognition from the California Community College Football Coaches Association. The freshman was one of 20 players named to the Region IV All-California First Team Defense on Thursday.

Omokaro earned All-Conference honors last month after he led the Pacific Division with 10 sacks and 15 tackles for loss. One of the New Jersey native's most impressive games was when he recorded eight tackles and 4.5 sacks in Hancock's 16-6 win at San Bernardino Valley.

Omokaro helped anchor the Bulldog defense in 2016 that shut down opponents' ground games all season. Hancock allowed just 64 rushing yards per game, which was the top defense against the run among California's 69 community college football teams. They set a program record in the team's 60-0 win over L.A. Pierce by allowing just 23 rushing yards.

The Bulldogs ended the season on a three-game winning streak to finish 5-5 overall and 3-2 in Pacific League play under head coach Kris Dutra.
