Hancock Football Hosts Military Appreciation Day Saturday, Nov.11; Kickoff Moved Up to 1 p.m.

Allan Hancock College will salute current and former members of the United States Armed Forces this Saturday, November 11, during Military Appreciation Day. The Bulldogs will host Citrus College at 1 p.m. at Hancock Football Field in their final regular season game. Administrators moved up the game one hour due to Daylight Saving Time.

Military members, veterans and their families can pick up free tickets at the Vandenberg Air Force Base Public Affairs office, the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce and the college's Veteran Success Center. Tickets are good for free admission to the game and lunch.

Personnel on Vandenberg AFB should contact the 30th Space Wing Public Affairs office at (805) 606-3595 to obtain tickets. The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce is located at 614 South Broadway in Santa Maria.

A special pregame coin toss and halftime presentation are also planned to honor local active duty military and veterans.

"Our military—whether past or present—sacrifices for all of us. We want to let them know how much we appreciate their efforts in maintaining our nation's peace and strength," added Kim Ensing, Allan Hancock College's athletic director.

The event is co-sponsored by the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce and Community Bank of Santa Maria.

The Bulldogs are ranked No. 21 in the latest state poll. At 4-0 in American Pacific League play and 7-2 overall, Hancock has already clinched at least a share of the seventh conference title in program history. A win over the Owls, or a loss by Antelope Valley, will give Hancock its first outright conference title since 1997.
