Bulldogs Rout L.A. Harbor, Win Back-to-Back Conference Championships

For the second straight season, the Hancock Bulldogs are Pacific League Champions, after defeating L.A. Harbor College 55-14 Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Bulldogs secured back-to-back Pacific League Championships and are set to host San Bernadino Valley College in the American Championship Bowl Saturday Nov. 17th.

The Bulldogs dominated the game from kick-off. An explosive Hancock offense and stingy defense proved to be too much for L.A. Harbor.

The running attack got things started early. The lethal combination of running backs Ryheem Skinner, Isaac Bausley, and Jayden Vargas drove the ball 65-yards in just 5 plays, capped off by a 13-yard rush into the end zone by Vargas to score on the Bulldogs first drive.

The Bulldogs defense forced Harbor to punt on the Seahawk's next offensive possession. That is when Alex Cecchi broke loose for a 33-yard punt return, giving the Bulldogs excellent field position.

The Bulldogs were unable to convert in the red zone, giving the ball back to Harbor on a failed 4th-down conversion.

On 2nd down, the Bulldogs defense forced the fumble and DB Jaquez McWilliams ran it in for the Bulldog touchdown, now leading 14-0.

The Bulldogs defense made it impossible for Harbor to get anything going, sacking the Seahawks quarterback for a loss of 5-yards on 4th down.

On the very next play, quarterback Thomas Carr connected with freshman receiver Pierre Moudourou for a 58-yard bomb into the end zone pushing the Bulldog lead to 21-0 in the 1st quarter.

L.A. Harbor would respond early in the 2nd quarter, finding the end zone in just under a minute, cutting the Bulldog lead to 21-7.

Hancock did not allow much time for celebration as Carr again connected with Moudourou for touchdown pass, this time for 41-yards.

An interception by sophomore DB Edjaun Works would give the ball right back to the Bulldogs.

Hancock would drive the ball down field 82-yards in 11 plays, highlighted by a 20-yard run by Vargas. At 1st and goal, Skinner would finish the job, punching the ball in for the touchdown and extend the lead to 34-7.

On the next drive, the Bulldogs would force another Seahawks fumble that was recovered and returned for the touchdown by freshman safety Raymond Paulo. The Bulldogs lead is pushed to 41-7 at halftime.

In the second half, the Seahawks were able to muster up another score. But it was too little, too late. A 19-yard touchdown run by Cecchi and another huge break away by freshman running back Eddie Battle for 51-yards and the touchdown put the nail in the coffin. The Bulldogs win 55-14.

The Bulldogs will host San Bernadino Valley College in the American Championship Bowl Nov. 17th at Righetti High School in Santa Maria. Kick-off is at 6pm.
