Hancock Football Releases 2019 Schedule as Bulldogs Seek Third Straight Title
In pursuit of program history in 2019, the Allan Hancock College football team will face the same ten teams that appeared on its schedule last season. Head Coach Kris Dutra returns for his 19th season as head coach of the Bulldogs with 110 career victories, the most in program history. The Bulldogs are coming off a 10-1 season that ended with a victory in the American Championship Bowl.
Hancock remains a member of the American Division's Pacific League. Last year, Hancock went 5-0 in league to capture its second consecutive outright title, a feat the program had not accomplished in 57 years. Since being placed in the league prior to the 2017 season, the Bulldogs are 10-0 in conference action. Hancock football has an opportunity this fall to secure the first conference three-peat in program history.
Hancock's 10-game schedule in 2019 kicks off with five non-league games, including a battle with Ventura, which finished runner-up last year in the state playoffs. Of the 10 teams on their schedule, three teams posted winning records last season, two of them, including Ventura, played in bowl games.
The Bulldogs received a bye during the first week of the season, which means Hancock opens 2019 at home Saturday, September 14, against LA. Valley at 2 p.m. Hancock defeated the Monarchs on the road last season 26-16 to go up 9-5 in the series that dates back to 1982.
The Bulldogs travel to Ventura on September 21 for the 38th meeting between the two programs. Kickoff will be at 6 PM. Last season, Ventura scored in the final 75 seconds to stun Hancock 29-28 in Santa Maria to take a 20-17 lead in the all-time series that started in 1972. Last season, the Pirates went 11-2 overall, advancing to the CCCAA State Championship where they lost 40-35 to Laney.
West L.A. hosts Hancock Saturday, September 28, at 2 PM. The Wildcats are coming off a 3-7 season that included a 79-20 loss at Hancock, the first meeting between the two programs since 2007. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 10-8.
The Bulldogs return home to host Citrus on Saturday, October 5, for a 2 PM non-conference battle. The Bulldogs edged the Owls 28-21 and leads the all-time series that dates back to 1956 by a 5-1 advantage. Citrus went 7-4 last year, earning a berth in the Western State Bowl.
The following week, Hancock travels to Antelope Valley for its final non-conference game on October 12, at 6 p.m. Hancock defeated AVC last season 26-3 to take a 6-2 lead in the all-time series that dates back to 1965. The Marauders finished 3-7 a year ago.
The Bulldogs open Pacific League play with two home games. At 2 p.m. on October 19, Hancock hosts Pasadena City College. Last year, the Bulldogs overcame a 14-0 halftime deficit to defeat the Lancers 28-21 in overtime and take an 8-3 advantage in the series. PCC finished 4-6 last season and 2-3 in the Pacific League.
The following week, Hancock will battle Santa Monica at 2 p.m. at Hancock Field. The two teams will play for the 15th time. The Bulldogs hold a 10-4 edge in the series after blanking the Corsairs 52-0 last season. Santa Monica went 4-6 last season, including a 2-3 mark in league.
The Bulldogs will travel to Santa Barbara City College on Saturday, November 2, for their 58th all-time meeting. Kickoff at La Playa Stadium at 1 p.m. Last year, Hancock crushed the Vaqueros 48-14 to take a 33-24-1 lead in the all-time series that dates back to 1956. Santa Barbara is coming off a 2-8 season and 1-4 record in the Pacific League.
The Bulldogs play their final regular season home game on Saturday, November 9, at 1 p.m. against L.A. Pierce in a conference game. Hancock defeated Pierce 49-24 last year for its 18th straight win over the Brahmas. Hancock leads the all-time series 18-1. The Brahmas went 6-4 in 2018 and 4-1 in league for a second-place finish.
The Bulldogs close the season on the road November 16, at 3 p.m. at L.A. Harbor. The Seahawks went 3-7 last season and 1-4 in league. Hancock beat Harbor 55-14 last season to clinch its second straight undefeated run through league play and take an 8-2 advantage in the all-time series.
