No. 13 Bulldogs Suffer Loss at Long Beach to End Season

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The No. 13-ranked Allan Hancock College football team ended the 2021 campaign with a road loss at Long Beach City College in a 31-17 decision on Saturday evening. | BOX SCORE

The Vikings opened the contest with a strong first quarter after a nine-yard touchdown pass and a successful 37-yard field goal attempt. Hancock responded in the second frame with a pair of touchdowns after a nine-yard scramble through the endzone from Dior Kennedy and a 20-yard pass completion from Mike McCoy to Isaac Yanez. Long Beach regained the lead with a last-second touchdown to close out the opening half and held a 17-14 lead at the intermission.

The Vikings tacked on two points in the third quarter after a blocked punt led to a safety, then extended their lead in the final frame on an 11-yard catch inside the endzone. Hancock responded once more when Colton Theaker made a field goal attempt from 50-yards out, but Long Beach closed the contest with a 30-yard interception return.

The loss brings the Bulldogs season to a close with an overall record of 5-5 on the season and 2-3 in National Northern League competition. Long Beach improves to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play with the victory.
