AHC Athletics Joins Community in Remembering Former Football Player Johnny Aviles

SANTA MARIA, Calif. – The Allan Hancock College football program and athletic department join the community in mourning the loss of former player, Johnny Aviles, who passed away tragically on Sunday morning in Kansas.

"We are devastated and shocked to learn of Johnny's passing. He was a super quiet kid, but once you got to know him you found out how hilarious he was. I called him 'Johnny Karate' because he had a mullet and wore a Karate Kid style headband to workouts," shared head coach Seth Damron. "I loved Johnny. He was just an all-around great person and I have very fond memories of him and his friend group. Our entire community grieves with his passing and we extend our deepest sympathies and comfort to his family."

Aviles, a Paso Robles native, spent two seasons with the Bulldogs as a member of the program in 2018 and 2019. After completing his junior college career, Aviles transferred to Tabor College (Kan.) to continue playing football at the next level. He was one of three Tabor football players traveling in a car that crashed south of Hillsboro, Kansas, where the college is located.

Information regarding funeral and visitation services have not been publicly announced at this time.
