Splash and Dash Partners With Local Races to Form Trifecta

Sign-ups are under way for the third annual Splash and Dash, being held at Allan Hancock College on Saturday, April 28 at 8:30 a.m.
Starting this year, the Splash and Dash is part of a larger group of events, the Central Coast Trifecta. The Trifecta begins with the Santa Maria Valley YMCA’s Tri-for-Fun Triathlon on Saturday, April 14 continues with the Splash and Dash and ends with the Bull Canyon Run on Saturday, May 19.
“This partnership with other Santa Maria events that promote healthy living and advocate for good a cause is very important to the Allan Hancock College athletic department, “ said Kim Ensing, associate dean/athletic director, kinesiology, recreation and athletics. “It also provides an opportunity for our recreation management students to gain experience running community events.”
Participants who sign up for all three events in the Trifecta will be entered into a drawing for a prize package that includes a two-night stay at the Cliffs Resort in Pismo Beach, a \$150 gift certificate to the Marisol Restaurant and Lounge and a \$50 gift certificate to the Esteem Surf Shop.
“We want to grow this and make the Trifecta something to look forward to each and every spring here on the Central Coast,” Ensing said.
The Splash and Dash begins at 8 a.m. on April 28 with registration and the race begins at 8:30 sharp. Participants can take part in the aquathon, a 5K and 500-yard swim, or choose to compete in the 5K run, 500-yard swim or two-mile walk. Cost is \$25 and all Special Olympics athletes are invited to participate free of charge.
