Despite 21 points from Lawrence Johnson and 20 from Kadeem Minor, the Allan Hancock College men's basketball team dropped a 78-72 conference game at L.A. Pierce on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs suffered their first Western State Conference defeat and dropped to 3-1 in league and 8-10 overall. L.A. Pierce improved to 4-1 in conference and 11-7 for the season.
Hancock led 41-33 at halftime behind nine points from Shamel Williams, 10 from Johnson and Minor, as well as eight from Matt Willkomm.
However, the Brahmas outscored Hancock 45-31 in the final 20 minutes to pull out the victory.
Johnson finished six of nine from the free throw line and the team made 12 of 19 overall for a 63 percent clip. Williams finished with 13 points, while Willkomm and Andre Miller had eight apiece.
The Bulldogs return home to host Santa Barbara on Saturday, at 3 p.m. SBCC fell 74-58 at Ventura to drop to 0-4 in conference and 4-12 overall.
