Kadeem Minor Signs with University of Antelope Valley

Allan Hancock College men's basketball player Kadeem Minor has signed a National Letter of Intent to the University of Antelope Valley, a NAIA program entering its inaugural season.

Minor was named the Western State Conference's Co-Most Valuable Player of the Year during the 2014-15 season after he helped the Bulldogs win a share of the program's first conference title in four years. The sophomore guard averaged 10.4 points, five rebounds and two assists for the Bulldogs.

"I am proud to receive a scholarship because I've had to battle a lot of injuries over the years," said Minor, who tore his anterior cruciate ligament prior to coming to Hancock. "I am glad I can put a smile on my mother's face."

The University of Antelope Valley basketball program opens its inaugural season at home against Benedictine (Ariz.) on November 6, 2015. The Pioneers are members of the California Pacific Conference (CALPAC).

"I choose UAV because it was close to home and during my visit the school president advised me to pick a school that takes academics as seriously as the sports programs. That sealed the deal for me, because at the end of all this the main goal is to be a college graduate," he added.

Hancock's third-year head coach Tyson Aye praised Minor, for his dedication and perseverance, who he has known for four years.

"Kadeem has been part of my program for three years. He has persevered through major injuries and a lot of adversity. He has really grown and matured here at Hancock and I couldn't be any more proud to see him earn a scholarship and move on to the four-year level," said Aye, who guided the Bulldogs to a 14-12 overall record last season. Last month, Alioune Tew signed at the Division-I Level Niagara University.

Minor plans to major in criminal justice at the University of Antelope Valley.
