Red-Hot Bulldogs Defeat El Camino 103-96 to Close Cuesta Tournament

Six Bulldogs reached double digits, including freshman Erik Kinnebrew, who recorded a triple-double, during the Allan Hancock College men's basketball team's 103-96 win over El Camino on the final day of the Cuesta Tournament Sunday. Hancock won for the fifth time in its last six games to even its record at 10-10. The Warriors dropped their fourth in a row to fall to 8-7 overall. 

Kinnebrew (pictured below) went 8-for-9 from the field, including a 3-for-4 effort from the 3-point range to finish with a career-best 21 points. The freshman pulled down a career-best 17 rebounds, and dished out 16 assists. He also had four steals. Kinnebrew scored nine points in the first half to help the Bulldogs build a 45-41 lead at intermission. He added 12 more in the second half and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

Sophomore Marcellus Garrick finished with 19 points. He went 5-for-6 from the field, including 3-for-4 from beyond-the-arc. Garrick was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.

Freshman Troy Bolden went 6-for-9 from the field and 1-for-4 from the foul line to finish with 13 points. He added five rebounds and one assist. Nolan Willett and Deon Whiteside scored 12 points apiece. Willett had four assists and three steals.

Sophomore center Dominic Jackson added 10 points, four rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot.

Overall, Hancock made 37-of-61 shots from the field, or 61 percent. The Bulldogs went 7-for-15 (47 percent) from 3-point range, and 22-for-32 (69 percent) from the free-throw line. The Bulldogs finished with 16 assists and 47 rebounds. Hancock finished the three-day tournament 2-1.

Hancock will return to action Saturday, January 14, at 3 p.m. when Ventura College visits Joe White Memorial Gymnasium for both teams' Western State Conference openers.
