Bulldog Basketball Closes Cuesta Tournament with a 71-68 Loss to College of the Sequoias

Freshman guard Glenn Jordan scored a career-high 13 points to lead a trio of Bulldogs in double digits, but the Allan Hancock College men's basketball team closed Cuesta College's Rabobank Tournament with a 71-65 loss to College of the Sequoias. The Bulldogs completed the three-day tournament 1-2, losing the two games by a combined four points. The Giants, who are ranked No. 18 in the preseason state poll, improved to 2-1.

Jordan, a freshman from Washington, scored nine of his 13 points in the second half. He added three assists and three rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Freshman Spirit Ricks finished with 12 points, 10 came after intermission. Ricks added two rebounds and one assist. Sophomore transfer Devin Davis also scored 12 points. The guard accounted for two of Hancock's four 3-point buckets in the game.

Sophomore Shane Carney added nine points and five assists. Carney, who averaged 16.3 points in the tournament, was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Sophomore transfer Kevin Baines contributed eight points and a team-high seven rebounds for the Bulldogs. Forward JT Riddick scored all seven of his points in the first half as Hancock trailed 33-31 at halftime. He finished the game with six rebounds.

The Giants hit nine 3-pointers in the win, including six in the second half. Austin Armstrong and Solomon Taylor led COS with 16 points apiece. Taylor sank four from beyond-the-arc. Kody Wilson hit two 3-pointers to finish with 10 points.

The Bulldogs will return to action next Thursday, Nov. 9, when they open the Ohlone College Tournament against College of Marin.
