Hancock Men's Basketball to Host Annual Home Motors Tournament Nov. 17-19

The Allan Hancock College men's basketball team opens its home schedule later this week by welcoming a talented field that includes two Central Coast rivals, and three teams ranked in the top 17 in the state. Hancock hosts the third annual Home Motors Tournament on Friday, Nov. 17, through Sunday, Nov. 19. All games will be played inside Joe White Memorial Gymnasium.

Hancock is off to a 4-2 start after going 3-0 last weekend and winning the championship at a tournament hosted by Ohlone College. Sophomore Shane Carney averaged 18.3 points and 7.7 assists per game to earn the tournament's Most Valuable Player award. Freshman Javae Lampkins, who scored 20 points in the championship game and averaged 17.3 points over the three games, was named to the All-Tournament Team. Freshman forward Spirit Ricks recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds in the title game.

The Bulldogs will welcome in seven other teams: Copper Mountain, Cuesta, Napa Valley, Ohlone, Santa Barbara, Victor Valley, and Yuba. Copper Mountain opened its inaugural season under head coach Devin Aye, the brother of Hancock head coach Tyson Aye, ranked No. 14 in the State Preseason Poll and No. 8 in the SoCal Preseason Poll. Napa Valley, ranked No. 13 in the state and No. 6 in the NorCal Preseason Poll, is off to a 0-2 start. Yuba, ranked No. 17 in the state and No. 8 in NorCal, is 2-1 to open the season. Cuesta is off to a 2-1 start, while Santa Barbara is 0-3 and Victor Valley is 2-0. Ohlone is 1-2, including a 68-63 loss to Hancock last weekend.

Action begins at 1 p.m. on Friday with Cuesta taking on Victor Valley, followed by Copper Mountain against Yuba at 3 p.m. The host Bulldogs will battle Ohlone at 5 p.m., before Napa and Santa Barbara face off at 7 p.m. to close out the first day.

Saturday's schedule will include the consolation semifinals at 1 and 3 p.m. The championship semifinals will take place at 5 and 7 p.m. Sunday, the final day of the tournament, will include the consolation championship at 1 p.m., the third place game at 3 p.m. and the championship game at 5 p.m.

The Hancock men will also host the 53rd annual AHC Holiday Tournament from December 28-30.
