Hancock Advances to Consolation Championship Behind Dominant Second Half

Devin Davis recorded a double-double, while Shane Carney and Javae Lampkins sank five 3-point baskets and scored 19 points apiece to lead the Allan Hancock College men's basketball team to a 83-65 come-from-behind win over L.A. Harbor Saturday to advance to the consolation championship game of Cuesta's Winter Classic. Ranked No. 14 in this week's Southern California Region, the Bulldogs bounced back after losing to No. 2 East Los Angeles Friday to improve to 11-7 on the year. Harbor dropped to 10-7.

Despite 11 points from Lampkins, Hancock trailed 38-33 at halftime after allowing Harbor to sink seven 3-pointers in the first 20 minutes. The Bulldogs dominated the second half, outscoring Harbor 50-27 and limiting the Seahawks to one 3-pointer the rest of the way. Carney poured in 13 points in the second half, while Davis scored 11 of his points to help the Bulldogs earn the victory.

Carney finished with 19 points, six assists and five rebounds. Lampkins ended with 19 points, two rebounds and two assists. Davis recorded his third double-double of the season by contributing 17 points, 12 rebounds and three assists. He pulled down five offensive rebounds, while Trenton Mitchell compiled four boards on the offensive glass.

Spirit Ricks added 11 points and eight rebounds, and Glenn Jordan compiled nine points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Hancock hit 11 of its 19 free throws or 58 percent. The Bulldogs finished with 12 3-point baskets in the game.

The Bulldogs will end the Classic on Sunday in the consolation championship at 1 p.m. They will face the winner of Saturday's showdown between Pasadena and Santa Barbara City College.
