Four Hancock Men's Basketball Players Receive All-Conference Honors, Three Named to First Team

Opposing coaches rewarded four Allan Hancock College men's basketball players for their performances during the regular season. Sophomore guards Shane Carney and Devin Davis, along with freshman forward Spirit Ricks were named to the All-Western State Conference First Team. Freshman guard Glenn Jordan received honorable mention. The four student-athletes led the Bulldogs to an 8-2 record and a second-place finish in the Western State Conference's North Division. The Bulldogs finished the regular season 21-9 overall.

Carney (pictured below, left) averaged a team-high 16.9 points per game, which ranked fourth in the Western State Conference's North Division. He averaged 19.2 points in Hancock's 10 conference games. The sophomore guard led the conference with 5.3 assists per game. Carney set the program's single-season record for most 3-pointers made with 93, which also ranks fifth in the state this season. Shooting 40.5 percent from beyond-the-arc this season, he needs two more to break the program record for most career 3-pointers with 152. Carney earned honorable mention his freshman season.

Davis, a 6'3" guard, (pictured above, right) averaged 10.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. He ranked third among conference players in rebounds. The sophomore transfer recorded seven double-doubles, including 23 points and 10 rebounds against Cuesta. He pulled down a career-best 14 rebounds in the team's win over Pasadena City College.

Ricks (pictured below, left) averaged 10.6 points and a team-best 7.1 rebounds as a freshman. He ranked second in conference in rebounds and third with a 54.9 field goal percentage. The 6'7" forward finished with seven double-doubles. He scored a career-high 24 points and pulled 11 rebounds in Hancock's overtime win over Ventura.

Jordan (pictured above, right), who graduated from Curtis High School in Washington, earned honorable mention honors after ranking fourth on the team in scoring at 10.3 points per game. The 6'1" guard also averaged 4.4 assists per game to rank fifth in the conference. He scored a career-best 20 points at Moorpark and recorded a season-high seven assists against West Valley and Cuesta.

The Bulldogs are making their first appearance in the California Community College Athletic Association's (CCCAA) Regional Playoffs in four seasons. Hancock received the No. 10 seed and will play at No. 7 Fullerton at 7 p.m. on Friday in the second round of the Southern California Regional.
