Be a Part of March Madness, Reserve Seat on Rooter Bus to State Championship Tournament to Watch Men's Basketball Face San Francisco Friday

Bulldog fans will get another chance to participate in March Madness and witness history. Students, faculty, staff and community members can take a rooter bus to watch the Allan Hancock College men's basketball team play San Francisco at Ventura College on Friday, March 9 in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championship Tournament. The Elite Eight game starts at 7 p.m. Ventura College is hosting the men's and women's state championship tournaments.

The Hancock College Boosters, Inc. is sponsoring the rooter bus. A seat on the bus and a ticket to the game will cost $25 for adults and members of the public. Current Hancock students can reserve a seat and receive admission to the game for $10. Payment is due prior to boarding the rooter bus.

The bus will leave from outside building N, where the college's gymnasium and track are located, at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The bus will return to the college immediately after the game.

To reserve a seat, please contact Kim Ensing, associate dean and athletic director at Hancock, at kensing@hancockcollege.edu or call (805) 922-6966 ext. 3227.

The Bulldogs are playing in the State Championship Tournament for the first time since 1974, which also happens to be the last time the team won the state title. Seeded No. 10 in the south, the men's basketball team secured a spot in the state tournament with a thrilling 91-90 double-overtime win at No. 2 San Bernardino last week in the regional final.

The Bulldogs continue adding to the list of accomplishments: most wins in a single-season since 26 wins in 1989-90; first playoff win since 2001; first appearance in regional finals since 1990; and first appearance in the state tournament since 1974. The last time Hancock advanced to the state tournament, the Bulldogs won the state championship. Hancock also won the state title in 1957.

The winner of Friday's Elite Eight games at Ventura will play in Saturday's Final Four. The state championship game will be Sunday afternoon.

All games will be broadcast by SoCal College Sports at www.socalcollegesports.com .
