HANCOCK BULLDOGS BASKETBALL OPENS UP IN A BIG WAY, SCORING 100 POINTS OPENING NIGHT

The Hancock College Men's basketball team is entering the season with high expectations. They are coming off of a 23-win season and an elite 8 appearance in the state tournament. With much of their roster returning and the addition of some key freshman, the Central Coast community has been waiting to see what the Bulldogs have to offer this season.

The Bulldogs first test of the season came Saturday afternoon, as West Hills College Lemoore traveled to Santa Maria.  The Bulldogs did not disappoint, putting up 100 points and holding West Hills to just 40-points.

It was a total team effort, as all 15-players on the Bulldogs roster saw the floor, and collectively forced the Golden Eagles into 26 turnovers. The Bulldogs size advantage made a significant impact, out-rebounding West Hills 73 to 21.

Sophomore forward JT Riddick led the charge with 21-points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Sophomore forward Spirit Ricks had a strong game of his own with a double-double, scoring 15-points and 13 rebounds. Freshman guard Mike Mensah had an impressive debut, scoring 11 points off the bench, shooting 3-3 from the 3-point line.

The Bulldogs will be put to the test Nov. 9th when they face West Valley College at Cuesta College. Tip-off is at 5pm.
