Bulldogs Outlast Santa Monica at Home

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's basketball program pulled off a thrilling 84-79 victory at home against Santa Monica College on Saturday evening. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (6-4) trailed by double digits midway through the opening half, but used an 8-0 run to close the gap by halftime. Hancock carried their momentum into the second half and built a 15 point lead within the opening seven minutes of action before the Corsairs (4-8) began to mount a comeback. As a team, the home squad finished with a red-hot mark of 52 percent from the floor while limiting Santa Monica to a 39 percent finish. The Bulldogs also outrebounded SMC at a 43-38 margin while recorded seven blocks as a team. 

Matt Solomon led the squad off the bench after hitting a trio of three-pointers en route to a 15 point performance. Shawn Kelly recorded his second double-double of the season with an 11 point, 11 rebound performance. Noah Haaland and Vondre Chase rounded out the double digit scorers after notching 10 points apiece. Bryce Craver led the offense after posting a season-high of 11 assists. 

The Bulldogs are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, December 16th. They will face San Jose on day one of the Coach Carr Classic at 7 PM. The three-day event will take place on the campus of San Jose City College.
