Bulldogs Remain Unbeaten in WSC Play with Home Win over Pierce

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's basketball team topped LA Pierce College at home on Wednesday evening in an 87-58 decision after overcoming an early deficit to remain undefeated in Western State Conference action. | BOX SCORE

The Brahmas (0-20, 0-4 WSC) jumped out to an early 12-point lead while holding the hosts to just one basket through the opening five minutes of action. Hancock (14-6, 4-0 WSC) rattled off a 16-0 run over the next five minutes of play, highlighted by a pair of back-to-back dunks from Taevon Pierre-Louis and Onias Outlaw, while working towards a 15-point lead at the intermission that they would continue to build on throughout the second half. The Bulldogs began firing on all cylinders after bouncing back from the slow start and closed the contest with a 60.0 percent shooting performance from the field. The home squad also recorded a +10 mark in the rebounding category and recorded 18 points off of 15 Pierce turnovers. 

Pierre-Louis led the offensive effort with his 13th double-double of the season, finishing just one assist shy of a triple-double. The Ohio native stuffed the stat sheet with 12 rebounds, nine assists, and six steals while pouring in 22 points after a 10-for-12 showing from the field. Quincy Bentley followed with 20 points, which included five made shots from distance, while Vondre Chase tacked on 17 points and nine assists. Cleevas Craig and Caleb Whalen rounded out the top performers off of the bench with 10 points and six assists, respectively. 

The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Saturday, January 21st, at home against Santa Barbara City College. Single-game tickets for the event, which is scheduled to begin at 5 PM inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium, can be purchased here. As per usual, the ticketing gate will be cashless and fans are strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets prior to arrival, but credit/debit card purchases can be made at the gate.
