Nicolini Earns Medalist Honor for Lowest Round at WSC Tournament #8

Alejandro Nicolini fired a one-under par 70 to earn individual medalist honors during the eighth Western State Conference tournament of the season. The Bulldogs finished in fifth place in the team standings at the tournament hosted by Glendale at the Oakmont Country Club.

Nicolini shot a season-low round to become the first Bulldog in at least three years to win a Western State Conference tournament. The sophomore was the only one in the field of 47 golfers to shoot below par. He edged College of the Canyons' Eric Kim by one stroke to score the individual medalist honors.

Canyons won the tournament with a total score of 381 strokes. Glendale finished second with 384, followed by Santa Barbara City College with 392. Citrus College finished in fourth with 399. The Bulldogs finished with a combined score of 403 strokes to finish five shots ahead of sixth place Ventura. Antelope Valley College came in seventh at 434 and Bakersfield finished eighth with a 443.

Shawn Brackett tied for 13th in the individual standings with a seven-over 78 for the Bulldogs. Triston Ioppini fired an 82, Justin Roxbrough shot an 85, while Robert Zimkowski shot an 88.

Hancock returns to action on Monday, April 20, at the ninth conference tournament of the year, which will take place at Olivas Links in Ventura. The WSC Finals will be on Monday, April 27, at the Antelope Valley Country Club.
