Nicolini Ties for 32nd at CCCAA State Championships

Allan Hancock College sophomore Alejandro Nicolini tied for 32th in a field of 61 during the CCCAA Men's Golf State Championships on Monday. The 36-hole championship took place at Kings River Country Club in Kingsburg.

Nicolini opened the day with an eight-over par 80 in the first round. He rebounded with a two-over 74 in the second and final round for an overall score of 154, or 10-over par. The sophomore was the first Bulldog to compete at the CCCAA State Championships since Austin Kaiser in 2012.

Jeremy Sanchez of Chabot College won the CCCAA individual state championship with a new CCCAA State championship low, 8-under par 136 (65-71). The previous record was 7-under 137 set by Long Beach City's Denny Kim in 1999. Chad Hambright of Riverside finished second with a total score of 141. The top six individuals earned All-State honors. Nicolini missed the All-State cut by nine strokes.

College of the Canyons won the men's golf team title, its second in the last three years. Canyons finished with a total score of 733 for an 8-stroke win over Reedley (741). Santa Rosa and Riverside tied for third at 743, while Santa Barbara finished fifth at 760. College of the Desert carded a 763, followed by Folsom Lake and Monterey Peninsula with 768s.
