Burrola, Linn and Zimkowski Qualify for SoCal Regional

Adam Burrola, Alexander Linn and Nick Zimkowski qualified individually for next month's Southern California Regional. Each Allan Hancock College men's golfer finished in the top 20 during the 2016 Western State Conference Championships on Monday. Each golfer played two rounds at the 7,000-yard championship golf course at the Rio Bravo Country Club in Bakersfield.

Burrola, a Nipomo High School graduate, carded a four-over par 76 in each round to finish with a total score of 152, or eight over par, which was good for a seventh place finish.

Linn, an Arroyo Grande High School graduate, fired a 78 and 81 for a total score of 15-over, 159. Linn tied for 18th place overall.

Zimkowski, a sophomore, qualified for SoCal Regionals for the second straight year by firing an 80 and 83. He was 19-over par overall with a 163, which tied for 20th place.

Hancock finished eighth in the team standings because the Bulldogs did not have five golfers complete two rounds. Ryan Chamberlain did not finish the second round after he fired an 18-over par 90 in the first round.

College of the Canyons finished first in the team standings with a total score of 759. Ventura finished second with 779 strokes, Citrus was third with 782, and Santa Barbara finished fourth with 786 strokes.

Citrus' Tyler Bliss earned medalist honors with an overall score of two-over, 146. Will Barnett of Canyons and Santa Barbara's Manny Manzone tied for second, one stroke behind at 147.

The Southern California Regional will be Monday, May 9, at the Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta. Each player will complete two rounds. Hancock's trio of golfers will look to advance to the CCCAA State Championships on Monday, May 16, at the Desert Island Golf and Country Club in Palm Springs.
