Tran Finishes Fourth Individually, Hancock Men's Golf Places Fourth at WSC No. 4

Freshman Brian Tran shot a season-low 72 and Adam Burrola carded a two-over 74 to lead the Allan Hancock College men's golf team to a fourth-place finish during the fourth Western State Conference Tournament of the season on Monday. Ventura College hosted the 18-hole tournament at the River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard.

Tran finished fourth overall in the individual standings with an even-par 72. Corey Haase of College of the Canyons and Ventura's Joey Herrera tied for medalist honors with 2-under 70s.

Burrola finished tied for sixth overall with a 74. Jett Rugg, a freshman, carded a five-over 77, Derrick Neiman fired an 88, and Josiah Sanchez recorded a 91.

Hancock finished with 402 total strokes. Canyons won the tournament with a total score of 379, followed by Ventura in second with 391 and Santa Barbara in third with 394. Bakersfield finished fifth with 413 strokes, followed by Glendale with 427, Antelope Valley with 454, Citrus College in eighth with 530 and Victor Valley in ninth place.

The overall conference standings after four tournaments find Hancock in fourth place at 19-13, behind first-place Canyons (30-2), second-place Ventura (27-5) and third-place Santa Barbara (25-7). Glendale sits fifth overall at 17-15, followed by Bakersfield (14-18), Antelope Valley (7-25), Citrus in eight (5-27) and Victor Valley (0-32).
