Rugg Cards One-Over to Finish Third Overall at WSC#6

Sophomore Jett Rugg continued his solid season for Allan Hancock College by firing a one-over 73 to tie for third place overall during a Western State Conference tournament hosted by Antelope Valley College on Monday. WSC#6 took place at the Angelope Valley Country Club in Palmdale.

Rugg's score was the best among the four Bulldogs in the field of almost 50 golfers. Matt Salisbury, a St. Joseph High School graduate, carded an eight-over 80, while Daniel Nelson, a Righetti graduate, was one shot back with an 81. Freshman Eddie Aldridge ended the day with an 83.

Freshman Nobuhiko Wakaari took home medalist honors for the fourth time this year, this time with a three-under 69. Canyons claimed the top three individuals on the day to win its fourth straight WSC tournament with a total five-player score of 367. SBCC came in second with 380, followed by Glendale (382), Ventura (389), Bakersfield (392), Antelope Valley in sixth (416), and Citrus (431). Neither Hancock nor Victor Valley had the five players required to register a team score.

Canyons continues to lead the conference standings at 45-3, two games ahead of SBCC and eight ahead of Ventura (37-11).
