Bulldogs Face Pair of Conference Opponents This Week

The men's soccer team (1-8-2, 1-12-3) will look to string together two conference wins this week. The Bulldogs play at Santa Monica on Tuesday at 3 p.m. before hosting College of the Canyons on Friday at 4 p.m.

Hancock fell 4-1 at Santa Barbara last week before playing to a 2-2 draw against Glendale. Against the Vaqueros, Joel Diaz (Nipomo HS) made eight saves and Oscar Quintana-Munoz (Arroyo Grande HS) scored a goal for the Bulldogs in the 61st minute on a penalty kick, his second goal of the season.

The Bulldogs stormed out to a 2-0 lead against Glendale on a 15th minute score form Adrian Diaz (Cabrillo HS) and a 31st minute goal from Buddy Kichler (Nipomo HS). Raul Munoz (Arroyo Grande HS) was credited with the assist on Kichler's second goal of the season.  Diaz upped his team-leading goal total to six.

Santa Monica is fourth in the conference standings at 5-3-3 and 5-7-4 overall. They defeated the Bulldogs 5-1 last month. Diaz scored the Bulldogs' lone goal in that game. Jonathan Navas leads Corsairs with eight goals this season.

Canyons enters 5-1-5 in conference and 7-2-5 overall. The Cougars are in second place to start the week. Philip Boscacci scored twice to lead Canyons to a 6-1 win over Hancock last month. Jesus Pescador leads the Cougar with six goals this season.
