Perkins Scores in Bulldog Debut, Hancock Settles for 1-1 Draw at Monterey in Season Opener

Freshman Tyson Perkins scored his first collegiate goal as the Allan Hancock College men's soccer team opened the 2015 season with a 1-1 draw at Monterey on Friday evening.

Perkins, who scored a school record 31 goals his senior season at Spring Valley High School in Nevada, scored in the 64th minute on an unassisted goal to tie the game at 1-1. Monterey had scored right before halftime.

The Bulldogs outshot Monterey 16 to seven, including eight shots on goal. Freshman Jorge Guzman had three of his four shots on goal. 

Hancock goalie Ivan Gomez recorded one save in the draw, while Humberto Figueroa allowed one goal to go with three saves for the Bulldogs.

Monterey keeper Christopher Vega recorded nine saves. 

Hancock returns to action on Tuesday, September 1, at College of the Sequoias with the game set to begin at 4 p.m.
