Five Men's Soccer Players Earn All-Conference Honors

Five Allan Hancock College men's soccer players have scored All-Conference honors from coaches. Freshman defender Anjel Mendez was selected to the All-Western State Conference First Team. Sophomore forward Adrian Diaz and freshman center-midfielder Francisco Ayala earned spots on the Second Team. Freshman Bernardo Rubio and sophomore defender Mike Arevalo received honorable mention.

Mendez (below), a Santa Maria High School graduate, played in all 21 games this season for the Bulldogs. He helped to anchor the Hancock defense all season.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Diaz (pictured below), an All-Conference First Team pick as a freshman, tied for the team lead this season with six goals. He recorded a hat-trick in a 4-0 win at Citrus. The Cabrillo High School graduate finished his Bulldog career with 15 goals.

 

 

 

 

 

Ayala (below, left), a Santa Maria High School graduate, played in 19 games as a freshman for the Bulldogs. He assisted on one goal this season and was a key figure as Hancock's center-midfielder.

   

Rubio (above, center), a Cabrillo High School graduate, tied for third on the team with three goals to go with one assist. Arevalo was another key defender for the Bulldogs. The Nipomo High School graduate (pictured above, right) scored one goal as a sophomore for the Bulldogs, a game-winning goal in 1 -0 victory over Moorpark.

The Bulldogs, who battled injuries all year, finished 4-12-5 overall, a three-win improvement over last season.
