Guzman Scores Twice, Hancock Wins Second Straight 4-2 Against West HIlls Lemoore

Jorge Guzman scored twice and assisted on another goal as the Allan Hancock College men's soccer team defeated visiting West Hills Lemoore 4-2 on Tuesday for its second straight win. Hancock evened its record at 2-2 and West Hills dropped to 1-3-1.

Hancock got on the board in the third minute when Migel Gomez found Bernardo Rubio and the sophomore connected on his first goal of the season. West Hills scored the equalizer in the 16th minute when Adrian Lopez found the back of the net on a ball assisted by Salvador Contreras.

Hancock answered right back and took the lead for good in the 17th minute when Guzman scored his first goal of the game on a ball from Rubio. Just 14 minutes later, Guzman assisted Migel Gomez on the freshman's fourth goal of the season to give Hancock a 3-1 lead in the 31st minute.

The Bulldogs added to their lead in the 58th minute when Guzman drilled a ball past the West Hills goalie to make it 4-1 Hancock. Gomez was credited with the assist.

The Bulldogs were called for a penalty in the 62nd minute that led to a penalty kick and subsequent goal by Alex Zarate to cap the scoring.

West Hills finished the match with 19 shots, including 11 on goal. Hancock took 15 total shots, eight of which were on frame.

Hancock's freshman goalie Jose Cardenas recorded nine saves in the victory, eight of the saves came in the first half.

After four matches, Gomez leads the club with four goals and four assists. Guzman has three goals and one assist.

Hancock will travel to Nevada to play two games, one on Friday, Sept. 9, and the other on Saturday, Sept. 10.
