Hancock Soccer Tops Moorpark 2-1 Behind Osua's Late Goal

Adonis Osua scored the game-winning goal with five minutes remaining to deliver a 2-1 victory for the Allan Hancock College men's soccer team over Moorpark on Tuesday afternoon. Hancock improved to 1-2 in Western State Conference play and 3-9-2 overall. The Raiders fell to 3-6-3 on the season and 0-2-1 in league.

Osua's first goal of the season came in the 85th minute. Freshmen Juan Pino and Ivann Flores were credited with the assist. Pino, a Paso Robles High School graduate, scored Hancock's first goal of the game late in the first half. The midfielder cashed in his first goal of the season in the 43rd minute on a ball from Angel Gallo to give Hancock a 1-0 halftime lead.

Freshman goalie Jose Cardenas recorded six saves in the first half for the Bulldogs. Moorpark scored the equalizer in the 51st minute. However, Cardenas preserved the win and finished with nine saves in the match.

Hancock finished with 16 shots, including nine shots on goal. Freshman forward Migel Gomez had four shots, including two on frame. Jorge Guzman and Carlos Paredes had three shots apiece.

The Bulldogs will look to extend their winning streak on Friday, October 21, at 4 p.m. when defending state champion Oxnard College visits Hancock. Onxard, the four-time defending conference champion, is 2-0 in league and 6-0-7 overall. The Condors are ranked No. 7 in the latest state poll.

Last fall, the Bulldogs upset Oxnard 5-2 and handed the Condors their first conference loss in more than two years. Guzman scored a hat-trick, and forward Bernardo Rubio, now a sophomore, added another goal for the Bulldogs.
