Paredes Scores Twice, Hancock Men's Soccer Beats Moorpark 4-1

Carlos Paredes scored a career-high two goals to lead the Allan Hancock College men's soccer team to a 4-1 win at Moorpark on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs swept both regular season meetings with the Raiders to improve to 2-6 in Western State Conference action and 4-13-2 overall. Moorpark dropped to 1-6-1 in league and 4-10-3 on the season.

 

Paredes opened the scoring in the 12th minute with his third goal of the season. Jorge Guzman was credited with the assist. The Raiders scored the equalizer in the 22nd minute. The game remained tied 1-1 into the second half.

 

Hancock took the lead for good in the 50th minute when Migel Gomez, a Cabrillo High School graduate, found the back of the net for the tenth time this season. Isaac Valdez assisted on the go-ahead score.

 

The Bulldogs added to their lead when freshman Juan Pino, a Paso Robles High School graduate, scored in the 72nd minute. Gomez picked up his tenth assist on the play.

 

Paredes added to the lead in the 82nd minute with his third goal of the season to complete his first two-goal game of his career. Daniel Romero assisted on the goal.

 

The Bulldogs finished with 22 shots, including 11 on goal. Gomez took nine shots in the match, four of which were on frame. Three of Guzman's four shots were on frame. Paredes, a Pioneer Valley High School graduate, also took four shots. 

 

Hancock goalie Maisen Baro made three saves for the Bulldogs to preserve the victory.

 

Hancock will return to action Wednesday, November 8, at Oxnard.
