Hancock Soccer Wins Fourth Straight

Hancock men's soccer beat College of the Sequoias 2-1 on Tuesday to extend their winning streak to four. Lompoc graduate Ulysses Cardona scored the first Bulldog goal and assisted on the second. The win moves the Bulldogs to 5-1-1 on the season.

Freshman Cardona opened up the scoring in the 36th minute with an assist by Nathan Perez, graduate of Pioneer Valley. In the 60th minute, former Pioneer Valley Panther Mario Delgado scored off of an assist by Cardona. The goal and assist by Cardona now leads the team in points. Cardona nine points tied with Migel Gomez, graduate of Cabrillo High School.

Freshman goalkeeper Antony Herrera had four saves on the game. The lone goal given up in the contest for the Bulldogs was to Judeh Halim after Herrera blocked a shot in extra time. "(Herrera) had a great save that deflected to the opponent for an easy goal," said head coach Billy Vinnedge. "The team has bonded well in our road trip and has been playing great defense."

The Bulldogs will try to extend their streak after a week off as they travel to Clovis on September 19th. Although the forecast is supposed to drop to the mid 70's next week, Vinnedge is sure weather won't be a factor. "We have won our last four games in 95 degree heat."
