Bio

The 2019 season is Quintana’s 19th season as the head coach of the track and field and cross country programs at Allan Hancock College. Quintana was named the Western State Conference Coach of the Year by his peers for the 2005 cross country season. He guided the women's track and field team to a fifth place finish in the Western State Conference standings in 2004.

The last several track seasons, Quintana has helped multiple athletes win individual Western State Conference titles and qualify for the Southern California Regionals. In 2018, Haleigh Batty won the women's long jump title and finished third in the state meet to earn All-American Status. In 2017, Brent Dionisio won the conference’s men’s high jump title before signing with University of New Mexico. Seven athletes qualified for the Southern California Regionals, and three went on to compete at the 2017 CCCAA State Championship.

In 2016, two athletes won Western State Conference titles, and three athletes qualified for the SoCal Regionals in a total of eight events. During the 2015 season, thrower Jared Springer and sprinter Jonathon General won conference crowns. They were two of the five Bulldogs who qualified for Regionals that year. Six athletes qualified for Regionals in 2014.

Prior to arriving at Hancock, Quintana coached for 13 seasons at Righetti High School, his alma mater. While at the helm of Righetti cross country, Quintana coached his teams to five Northern League championships. Each season, he helped at least one of his athletes qualify for the CIF-Southern Section divisional finals, master’s meet and state meet.

Several of his athletes from Righetti and Hancock have gone to successful athletic careers at four-year universities, including PAC-12 Conference hammer throw champion Chelsea Cassulo (Arizona State), Jerrel Meier (UC Berkeley), Kenna Wolter (University of South Dakota).

Quintana attended Righetti High School, where he was a standout athlete in cross country and track. He recorded career bests of 1:55 in the 800-meters and 4:19 in the mile.

Quintana is the proud father of two sons, Louie Jr. and Joseph. Louie Jr. was an All-American track and cross country runner at Arroyo Grande High School. A five-time All-American for Villanova University, he is an assistant track coach at Oregon State University.
