Chavez hit .245 in 38 games her freshman year for Hancock. She scored 21 runs, stole 14 bases and drove in nine runs. She played four years of varsity softball at Santa Maria High School. She was a two-time All-League player who hit above .400 her last three years for the Saints. Chavez is majoring in business.
