Cody Leads 15-Hit Attack, Hancock Softball Routs Glendale 12-2 to Stay Undefeated

Nikole Cody drove in a career-high three runs, while Bailey Killough and Hannah Diaz combined on a two-hitter as the Allan Hancock College softball routed Glendale 12-2 in five innings on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs, who played three road games in three days, improved to 5-0. Glendale fell to 1-5-1. Hancock has outscored its opponents 44-6 this season and won four by virtue of the eight-run rule.

The Bulldogs scored five times in the top of the first inning and never looked back. Hancock added four in the third, two in the fourth and one more in the fifth.

Catcher Alyssa Gonalez led Hancock's 15-hit attack with three hits. Cody, Nakaila Fuggs and Sierra Martinez had two hits apiece. Cody hit a triple and a home run in the win. Freshman Zaiden Bakke and center fielder Crystal Gonzalez drove in two runs apiece.

Bailey Killough earned the win to improve to 3-0. She allowed two hits, two runs and two walks in three innings. The 2017 Western State Conference Pitcher of the Year struck out six and went 1-for-2 with one RBI at the plate.

Diaz struck out two over the final two innings. The sophomore issued one walk, but did not allow a hit.  

The Bulldogs return home to host LA Valley at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, before welcoming Riverside at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10.
