Softball Extends Win Streak to Seven with Glendale Sweep

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball program rolled through Glendale College at home on Saturday afternoon en route to their third straight sweep of the week. The Bulldogs, who are currently riding a seven game win streak, now move to 9-3 on the season while Glendale falls to 4-11 overall.

GAME ONE: ALLAN HANCOCK 12, GLENDALE 3 (5 INNINGS) | BOX SCORE

The home squad struck first in the opening frame of game one after Xchelle Glidewell's double plated two runners. The Vaqueros scored once in the top of the third before Hancock responded with a trio of RBIs from Briana Munoz, Madison Gamble, and Antoinette Terrones to extend the lead. Glendale notched a pair in the top of the fifth after a homer, but an explosive seven-run inning for the Bulldogs triggered the run rule and closed the game early. Terrones started the rally with a double that scored a pair and then found her way home after a Vaqueros error. Abigail Salazar notched another pair of RBIs with a single to left-center before Munoz registered a walk-off double down the left field line to end the game.

X. Glidewell collected the win in the circle after tossing 2.1 innings. She struck out one batter and surrendered one earned while scattering three hits.

GAME TWO: ALLAN HANCOCK 10, GLENDALE 1 (5 INNINGS) | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs went up first again in the nightcap after Terrones, Alyssa Jones, and Ehsya Glidewell each secured RBIs in the second frame en route to a three-run inning. Glendale was able to score once in the top of the third, but another seven run showing in the bottom of the fifth forced the mercy rule. Mya Mendoza started the scoring frenzy with an RBI single, followed by a three-run homer over the left-center fence for Munoz. Terrones came through once more with her second RBI single of the game before E. Glidewell sent a triple through the right-side to score the final two runs of the contest.

Munoz picked up the win on the rubber after tossing a complete game. She surrendered just one earned run and scatted three hits in the victory.
