WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball program picked up a pair of league victories after pulling off a two-game sweep over LA Pierce College in a road showing on Thursday afternoon.
The Bulldogs now move to 12-9 on the season and hold a record of 6-3 against Western State Conference foes, placing them at third in the league rankings. The Brahmas fall to 0-10 on the season and against conference competitors.
Hancock is set to host Ohlone College for a non-conference doubleheader at home on Tuesday, April 11th. Game one is set to being at 12 PM on the AHC Softball Field and single-day tickets can be purchased here. As per usual, the ticketing gate will be cashless and fans are strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets prior to arrival, but credit/debit card purchases can be made at the gate.
GAME ONE: AHC 15, LA PIERCE 7 | BOX SCORE
The Bulldogs jumped out early in game one after putting up five runs through the opening two frames, but Pierce managed to respond with a five-run rally in the fourth to bring the game within reach. Teams continued to trade runs over the next two innings before Hancock rattled off a seven-run stint in the top of the seventh while holding the Brahmas to just one in the bottom of the frame. Madison Gamble led the visiting crew at the plate with an impressive 5-for-5 finish that included two doubles and four RBIs. Abigail Salazar also had a day with three hits, including one triple, and three RBIs.
Munoz secured her sixth win of the season in the circle after tossing a complete game. She struck out nine batters while surrendering seven earned runs on nine hits.
GAME TWO: AHC 11, LA PIERCE 0 | BOX SCORE
Coach Maumausolo's squad dominated in game two after posting 11 unanswered runs through the first three innings, which brought the game to a close after five frames. Mya Mendoza was tops for the Bulldogs in the nightcap after one home run and one triple led to three RBIs and as many runs on her stat line. Munoz and Salazar also tallied multiple hits with three and two, respectively, while Lisette Coria stole one base.
Delayna Quezada was credited with the win after twirling a four-inning shutout that featured four strikeouts and four hits.
