Softball Ends Season with 7-3 Loss Against Ventura
SANTA MARIA, Calif. — The Allan Hancock College softball team put up a spirited effort at home but couldn't overcome Ventura College's offensive firepower, falling 7-3 in a Western State Conference matchup last Tuesday. | BOX SCORE
The Bulldogs were limited to three hits but made them count, with two of the knocks going for extra bases. Sophomore first baseman Jonessa Marquez provided a spark in the middle of the lineup, going 2-for-2 with a home run, a walk, and two runs scored. Katy Matthews added a triple and an RBI, while Khaelii Robertson-Mack reached base once and came around to score.
Despite the offensive highlights, the Pirates' relentless attack proved too much. Ventura racked up nine hits, including six doubles and two triples, breaking open a close game with a three-run sixth inning.
Hancock pitcher Havanah Michel went the distance in the circle, striking out three and walking three over seven innings, but was tagged for seven earned runs on nine hits.
On the defensive side, Tori Salazar and Riley Vannasap anchored the field with five putouts each, while Matthews added three from behind the plate despite a throwing error.
With the loss, the Bulldogs close out the 2025 campaign with an overall record of 9-19 and a 5-9 mark in league action. They finished 6th in the WSC North standings.
