Hancock Women Host Taft Wednesday in Home Opener

The women's basketball team opens the home portion of its 2014-15 schedule on Wednesday when Taft rolls to town.

Hancock went 1-2 over the weekend at a San Diego Mesa Tournament. The Bulldogs fell 61-53 to Rio Hondo in the opener before beating Imperial Valley 52-42 thanks to a career-high 21 points from sophomore Celina Calderon. They fell 44-35 to L.A. Southwest in the consolation championship game. Calderon was named to the All-Tournament Team. Freshman Michaila Miller  recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds against L.A. Southwest. Freshman Tashara Pruett led Hancock with 13 points, while Ali Rodriguez dished out eight assists in the loss to Rio Hondo.

Taft enters 0-4 and features three players averaging double-figures led by Angie Banks and Carrie Graham, who are both averaging 12 points per game. Hancock defeated Taft 67-46 last
