Hancock Women Continue WSC Play on Wednesday

The women's basketball team will look to snap a three-game losing skid when the Bulldogs travel to L.A. Pierce on Wednesday, Jan. 24. Tip off is at 7 p.m. The women are 0-3 in Western State Conference play and 8-11 overall. The Brahmas are 1-3 in conference and 4-14 for the season.

The Bulldogs defeated LA. Pierce 79-65 during the preseason at a Cuesta Tournament. Ali Rodriguez led the Bulldogs with 29 points and nine assists, while Celina Calderon added 19 points and six assists, and Marissa Torres added 12 points.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 77-42 home loss to first place and defending conference and state champion Ventura. Calderon led the Bulldogs with 27 points, while Rodriguez poured in 14.

For the season, Rodriguez ranks fourth in the WSC-North at 14.4 points per game, while Calderon sits fifth at 13.8 points.  Pierce is led by center Ahlisha Henderson who leads the WSC-North at 18.8 points and 13.7 rebounds per contest. Henderson scored 30 points against the Bulldogs last November.

Following Wednesday' road contest, Hancock returns home to host Santa Barbara on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 5 p.m. The Vaqueros are 0-3 in conference and 5-13 for the season. They play at Ventura on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
