De La Guerra, Calderon Lead Hancock Women to Season-Ending 76-58 Win Over Oxnard

Sophomore Nicole De La Guerra, Celina Calderon and Ali Rodriguez combined to score 55 points in the Allan Hancock College women's basketball team's 76-58 win over Oxnard on Saturday in Joe White Memorial Gymnasium. The trio, as well as sophomore Jasmin Chavez, were honored prior to their final game of their Hancock career.

The Bulldogs finished the season 12-16 overall and 4-8 in Western State Conference play. Oxnard finished 2-10 in conference.

De La Guerra led the way with 22 points and four steals. The Pioneer Valley High School graduate made 10 of her 14 shots from the field. Calderon made five of seven shots and made all 11 of her free throws. The Lompoc High School graduate led the Bulldogs with nine rebounds. Rodriguez made just three of her 18 shots, including two of 13 from three-point range. She finished with 12 points, six assists and five rebounds.

Tashara Pruett added eight points and six rebounds. Ashley Daher came off the bench to score five points and grab three rebounds. The freshman made five of six from the charity stripe.

Hancock carried a 35-16 lead into halftime behind 14 points from De La Guerra. Hancock hit 33 percent from the field, but held Oxnard to 18 percent shooting.

Overall, the Bulldogs shot 42 percent from the field (22 for 52), and 17 percent from long-range (3 for 18) and 88 percent from the free throw line (29 for 33). They pulled down 33 rebounds compared to 35 from Oxnard. The Condors shot 37 percent from the field (24 for 65) and made just eight of their 20 free throws (40 percent).
